Welcome to the Manning Valley U3A.
We hope you’ll join us in ‘Learning for Life.’ Please look over our site to see who’s who, what’s on and when. Look at the current and past newsletters to get an idea of the range of courses we offer. For other enquiries use the Governance or Contact tabs above. We look forward to sharing a class, or maybe two, with you and in ‘learning for life.’
Manning Valley U3A Management Committee
Dear Fellow Members,
I hope this finds you well.
I hope those who have been unwell are feeling better.
I have been enjoying many of the online stimuli provided not only by U3A but many other organisations or contacts I connect with. One I really enjoyed joining in with recently to celebrate World Music Day was this one through the Sydney Opera House digital program:
Our Management Committee met on Friday 3rd July to consider many matters.
The one you will be most interested in is when will courses resume. After some discussion and considering limitations imposed due to covid restrictions on venues and class numbers; complete bans on some activities, limitations on the practicalities of running others, entering the flu season, the vulnerability of many of our members in the post 65 age group, the need to find new office bearers and committee members, and the likelihood of further possible lockdowns (see Victoria now) we decided to wait till term four. We are working towards organising an AGM for Monday 12 October with most classes commencing 19 October.
We are meeting again on 28 August and we will be back in touch when we have a clearer picture of how things regarding course offerings, enrolment, the AGM and recommencement can work.
With all this in mind we do need to ask you again to consider taking on a role in running our U3A.
You need to nominate otherwise there will be no Secretary, Treasurer, Programs Director, Membership Officer, Welfare Officer or Newsletter Editor.
So, how will Manning Valley U3A function?
Get a nomination form, fill it in and get it in tomorrow or sometime soon!
If you need to discuss a role contact me or the person doing the job now.
In the meantime, Eileen Parr has joined the committee filling one of the casual vacancies. We thank her for her interest and enthusiasm.
We’ll be in touch again soon.
All the best
